Amazon has started rolling out its X-Ray feature, which provides trivia, cast and other details about the show you are watching, to Apple TV. FuboTV has added support for Apple’s ’TV’ app.
Amazon X-Ray feature
Amazon’s X-Ray feature for movies and TV shows has been supported on Android, iOS, FireTV, Roku and web browsers for some years now but it has been missing on Apple TV.
That is about to change as Amazon has seemingly started rolling out the X-Ray feature to Apple TV users, according to a report by Best Apple TV. X-ray is powered by IMDb, which is owned by Amazon, and provides cast details, trivia, photos, bonus content, and more.
X-Ray can be activated simply by pausing the video or by swiping up on the remote control during playback. It works with most movies and originals but not all.
FuboTV integration
Apple’s plan to turn its ’TV’ app into a modern TV guide for the streaming era is coming along nicely, albeit not as quickly as some might have hoped. The ’TV’ app remains unavailable in most regions.
FuboTV, the live sports service, is now embracing the ’TV’ app. It is the second live TV streaming service to integrate with Apple’s app, after PlayStation Vue. This means that you can now find live sports in the ’TV’ app alongside movies from iTunes, TV shows from HBO, and more.
FuboTV added that it is planning to add support for Apple's Single-On feature in the near future. The service already integrates with Siri.
In the TV space, Apple competes with the likes of Amazon, Google, Roku, and Samsung. Market data suggests that Apple’s tvOS is making headway but that Roku remains the leader and Amazon’s FireTV is growing faster.
