LG has announced pricing and availability for some of its 2019 4K OLED TVs. C9 is starting at $2500 for a 55-inch model, while 77-inch OLED TVs remain expensive. B9 will be available later this year.
LG 2019 OLED pricing
LG OLED will remain tied to the premium segment of the TV market once again this year even though some of the new TVs will be slightly more affordable at launch. That much is clear after LG has announced pricing details. However, we expect them to drop significantly in price later this year.
LG is adding new features such as HDMI 2.1, including HDMI VRR, 120fps HFR, eARC, and ALLM, as well as Apple Airplay 2 and HomeKit. These 2019 LG OLED TVs are all equipped with an ‘Alpha 9 Gen 2’ video processor and supports various HDR video formats, including Dolby Vision. Comparing starting prices for the 2019 LG OLED TVs to the starting prices of last year’s models, some 55 and 65-inch models are a little cheaper, while a 77-inch C9 is $3000 cheaper but still very costly at $7000. The W9 “wallpaper” OLED has the same starting price.
LG’s most affordable OLED TV this year will be the B9, which will be available later. In 2019, LG will also launch the first 8K OLED TV Z9 and the first “rollable” OLED TV R9. Pricing details for those models have not been announced yet.
The new TVs from LG will go up against OLED TVs from Sony, Panasonic, Philips, and from other competing brands as well as high-end LCD TVs from hometown rival Samsung and others. Most other brands have yet to announce pricing for 2019 but Samsung’s new Q90R will start at the same price for a 65-inch model, while larger formats are considerably cheaper than LG OLED.
LG’s 2019 OLED TVs will be available starting from April. The company has not yet announced pricing details for Europe.
