Samsung’s 2019 4K flagship TV will start at $3500 for a 65-inch model, while LCD TVs with less advanced zone dimming systems will start at $1250 for a 49-inch model.
Samsung 2019 LCD TV pricing
Pricing details for Samsung’s 2019 “QLED” LCD TVs were revealed on the company’s website. This year, Samsung is bringing out Q90R with a full array local dimming system (FALD) with about 500 LED zones as well as Q80R and Q70R with less advanced FALD systems (fewer dimming zones), starting at $1250 for a 49-inch screen.
At launch, Samsung’s flagship 4K TV for 2019 will cost the same as LG’s C9 OLED when comparing 65-inch sizes, while the larger formats of Samsung Q90R will be considerably less expensive than LG’s OLED models. These are starting prices so expect prices to fall considerably throughout the year.

Q60R is a range of LCD TVs with edge LED. In our testing over the years, we have found every single edge LED LCD TV to be incapable of delivering HDR so you should probably step up to at least Q70R if you want to enjoy movies and games in HDR, although we will need to examine Q70R and Q80R before we can provide more details about picture performance. We shared our first impressions of Q90R earlier this year and are trying to get our hands on review samples.

Q90R and Q80R use an improved LCD panel structure with ‘Ultra Viewing Angle’. All of the Q-series TVs also use quantum dot film to expand the color space. Support for Apple Airplay 2 and an iTunes app will be added later this year. The TVs do not come with HDMI 2.1 ports but Samsung will support ALLM and FreeSync for gaming. Samsung has stopped quoting numbers for peak brightness. More information can be found here.

The flagship 4K Q90R from Samsung will compete with 4K OLED TVs from LG, Sony, Panasonic, Philips, and other brands, while the less advanced Q80R and Q70R will compete head-to-head with FALD-based LCD TVs from the likes of Sony, Vizio, and TCL.
Some of Samsung’s 2019 TVs are already listed as in stock on amazon.com while others will start shipping later this month or in April.
