Popular media player app Infuse for Apple TV and iPhone/iPad has been updated. Infuse 6 includes new features such as iCloud library syncing, AirPlay 2 and HomePod support on iOS, and more.
Infuse 6 for Apple TV
Infuse is one of the most popular media player apps for iOS and tvOS, and it is getting new features on a regular basis. The app allows you to watch media files stored on a network hard drive or PC on the TV or iOS screen.
Infuse version 6 was released on March 28. FireCore, the developer behind Infuse, is highlighting six major new features. One of them is iCloud libraries that syncs playback progress and settings between your devices. The video playback engine has also been revamped to "tackle everything from super-cute cat videos to the latest-spec 4K HDR films".

In addition, Infuse 6 adds support for AirPlay 2 and HomePod on iOS, allowing you to output audio to multiple AirPlay-enabled speakers in your home while the video stays on iPhone/iPad. This feature was already supported on tvOS (Apple TV).
Lastly, the developer highlighted integration with iOS's Files app for managing local files, an expanded partnership with OpenSubtitles for adding ad-free subtitles in multiple languages to your videos, and lastly a redesigned icon look.

The update also includes various other improvements and bug fixes. We have included the change log for Infuse 6 on iOS and tvOS below.
There is still no update regarding support for Dolby Atmos.
Infuse is one of many media player apps for Apple TV. Other prominent ones include Plex, VLC, and MrMC (Kodi port). Unlike Plex for example, Infuse does not require server software to be running on your NAS or PC that is storing your media files. Infuse reads the file structure on your storage device and lets Apple TV do the heavy lifting of handling or decoding videos.
Infuse 6 is a free update to subscribers of Infuse Pro. A subscription plan costs $1 per month or $10 per year.
