Vizio has announced that its 2019 TVs are now available. The 2019 line-up comprises the P Quantum X, P Quantum, M Quantum, and V series TVs with 4K resolution, local dimming, and support for multiple HDR formats. AirPlay 2 and HomeKit will be added soon.
Vizio 2019 4K TVs
Vizio has abandoned its silly "XLED" marketing but the LCD TVs are still equipped with zone dimming capabilities to expand the luminance range as well as a quantum dot film to expand the color gamut. These technologies should improve HDR picture quality.
Starting from the top, Vizio's new P Quantum X series, available in 65 and 75 inches, features the most advanced full array local dimming system with up to 480 zones. That is still only one dimming zone for every 17,000th pixel but it is enough to match other high-end LCD TVs from the likes of Samsung. Vizio claims that its flagship TVs can hit up to 3000 nits peak brightness.
Vizio will also launch 65 and 75-inch P Quantum models with fewer dimming zones and lower peak brightness. These will be $800-1000 less expensive than the flagship models. Furthermore, Vizio will launch new M Quantum and V series (that will replace the E series) of LCD TVs with limited local dimming capabilities or direct LED backlights.
The entire 2019 range features the company's SmartCast 3.0 platform with access to apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, and Vudu.

Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support will be added via a "soon-to-come" update, the company said. The TVs also have built-in Chromecast.
All of the 2019 Vizio TVs boast support for the Dolby Vision, HLG, and HDR10 formats but the M series top out at either 400 or 600 nits brightness and have limited local dimming, which may not be enough to deliver proper HDR.

The new TVs span 40 to 75 inches in size and will compete with full array local dimming LCD TVs from the likes of Hisense, Samsung, Sony, and TCL. Vizio has yet to launch TVs with 8K resolution or TVs based on OLED technology. The company is not yet ready to transition to HDMI 2.1 ports either and it would appear that none of the HDMI 2.1 features such as VRR, eARC or ALLM are supported.
Vizio's 2019 TVs are now available at retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart, starting at $260 for a 40-inch V series TVs. The top-of-the-line 75-inch P Quantum X will cost $3500.
