In February 2019, MGM launched streaming service Epix Now. The app is now available on Android TV, in addition to Apple TV, Roku and FireTV. It is unclear if 4K is supported on Android TV.
Epix Now on Android TV
Epix Now includes a library of original programming and movies. It is a standalone streaming service and a competitor to rivaling services from the likes of HBO and Showtime.
At launch in February 2019, Epix Now was available on Android, Apple TV, Chromecast, and iOS. It expanded to Roku and FireTV in late March, and it is now expanding to Google's Android TV platform that is powering TVs from Sony, Philips, TCL, and others.
- "We're rolling out support for Android TV in this release! You can enjoy hit movies like Mission: Impossible - Fallout or binge the latest episodes of Deep State on your big screen," the company said.
Epix Now offers some movies and TV shows in 4K resolution but it is unclear if 4K is supported on Android TVs. The company's support website says that "4K Ultra HD streaming is available with the Epix Now app on Apple TV 4K and Roku 4K" but the website has not been updated in any form to reflect that fact that the app is now available on Android TV.
MGM's standalone Epix Now costs $6 per month.
