Masters of the Air, the third instalment in Steven Spielberg's Band of Brothers and The Pacific saga, will be Apple's first in-house production from its own studio (via Hollywood Reporter).

Apple is preparing to launch Apple TV+ and the company has been partnering with other studios to create a number of movies and shows that will be available exclusively through its streaming service. The first show to be produced entirely in-house will be Masters of the Air. Masters of the Air was supposed to be an HBO show just like the award-winning Band of Brothers and The Pacific, the first two instalments in the saga. However, HBO balked at the hefty $250 million price tag partly due to the collapse of physical disc sales, according to Hollywood Reporter. Masters of the Air will once again be produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goeztman.

The formation of Apple's own studio, which has yet to be named but will be led by two former Sony Pictures Television executives, is further proof that the company is fully committed to its new video streaming service that will launch on November 1, 2019, for $5 / €5 per month.
