Netflix is ending support for Roku players introduced in 2011 and earlier. - "Due to technical limitations, Netflix will no longer be available on select older Roku players after December 1, 2019. These devices include models Roku 2050X, Roku 2100X, Roku 2000C, Roku HD Player, Roku SD Player, and Roku XR Player," Roku said in a statement to HDGuru. In addition, the Roku XD and the purple Roku LT introduced in 2011 are affected.In 2015, Roku announced that it would no longer provide firmware updates to its media streamers from 2011 and earlier. This decision has likely made it difficult for Netflix to continue support. - "We have made the difficult decision to no longer launch new streaming channels, update existing channels, push firmware updates, or develop the Roku mobile app for Classic Roku players," the company said in 2015. How long do you expect a streaming device to last? Surely, most users would expect a device purchased in 2011, or even 2012, to last beyond 2015, even if it still technically works without the latest software.
