Apple TV+ is now live in over 100 countries

Apple TV+ is now live and it marks Apple's highly anticipated entry into the TV market. The streaming service launches with just eight titles but the company tells us to expect much more content in the future.

Viewers in more than 100 countries will today get an early look at Apple's plans to participate in the streaming market. The first two episodes of See, Dickinson, For All Mankind and The Morning Show are available for free on Apple TV and iOS devices. Additional episodes require a $5 or €5 per month subscription after a free seven-day trial.

Apple is undercutting all its rivals, including Disney+, but the low price also reflects that the library comprises just eight titles at launch. Viewers can today watch the first three episodes of See, For All Mankind and The Morning Show, with more episodes coming weekly, while the first season of Dickinson is available in its entirety. The company tells us to expect more TV series and movies in the coming months.

- “Audiences in over 100 countries and regions can now enjoy Apple TV+, home to an all-original lineup of powerful shows and movies from today’s greatest storytellers,” said Eddy Cue, SVP of Internet Software and Services, Apple. “It was important for us to make it easy for everyone to watch across all their favorite screens, so Apple TV+ is the most broadly available Apple service ever from day one.”

All launch titles can be enjoyed in 4K resolution with Dolby Vision HDR. Some titles are also available in object-based Dolby Atmos audio. More information about content, apps, picture/audio, and future plans can be found in the article below.

What can we expect from Apple TV+? It is a streaming service that differs in form from Netflix and others. Content is housed within the Apple TV app, which also includes the full iTunes movie library as well as content from partners such as HBO and Showtime. The app is available on the company's own devices as well as 2018+ Samsung TVs, some Fire TV devices, some Roku devices, and later Sony, LG and Vizio TVs. Still, app availability is severely limited and Apple TV+ does not in any way have the same reach as Netflix.
