Hisense expected to launch OLED TVs in the US next year

LG Electronics is suing Hisense for infringing on its TV patents but it may in fact be an attempt to hamper Hisense's launch of OLED TVs in the US next year, according to a report by Korea Herald.

Hisense has already launched its first OLED TV in Australia, the UK, and other parts of Europe. It is notable because Hisense, together with Samsung and TCL, was a founding member of the QLED Alliance, formed to combat OLED TVs.

Hisense is expected to launch its OLED TV line-up, Series X, in the US next year. That is according to Korea Herald who is reporting on a lawsuit filed by LG Electronics in which it claims that China's Hisense is infringing on four of its TV patents.

- "Some market watchers see the latest lawsuit as an attempt to hamper the entrance of Hisense in the US organic light-emitting diode TV sector," the report from Korea Herald said. "The Chinese firm is expected to launch its OLED TV lineup, Series X, in the US market next year."



Besides Hisense, Vizio will also launch its first OLED TV in the US next year, according to an official statement made by OLED panel supplier LG Display. Samsung is also investing heavily in OLED TVs, with plans to start mass production of 'QD-OLED' in 2021, while TCL is exploring a hybrid QD and OLED technology.

With Vizio and Hisense both launching OLED TVs next year, competition in the segment looks poised to increase.
