Disney+ experienced "extraordinary demand with more than 10 million sign-ups" on launch day, according to data provided by the company.

Many viewers have reported issues signing up, logging in, or enjoying video streaming from Disney+. That is perhaps understandable considering that more than 10 million signed up for Disney+ on launch day alone. - "Disney+, the highly anticipated streaming service from The Walt Disney Company, has already reached a major milestone, achieving a remarkable 10 million sign-ups since launching," the company announced on November 13. Disney+ launched on November 12 in the US, Canada, and Netherlands. It will expand to Australia and New Zealand next week and Western Europe from March 2020. It will come to Eastern Europe and Latin America from late 2020.

For comparison, Netflix had over 158 million subscribers worldwide as of the end of September 2019, of which 60 million were US subscribers. Disney CEO Bob Iger has previously referred to Disney+ as "the most important product our company has launched in a long time, certainly in my tenure". Of course, it remains to be seen how many of those 10 million decide to start paying for Disney+ after the free trial ends. The company says that "moving forward, there are no plans to release Disney+ subscriber data outside of The Walt Disney Company’s quarterly earnings calls". The next earnings call is scheduled for early 2020. Also read: What is Disney+?
