After adding Apple TV 4K, Chromecast Ultra, Xbox One, FireTV, and LG webOS to its list of supported devices for 4K streaming, Hulu is now expanding support to Roku.Hulu 4K streaming
Hulu introduced 4K streaming in 2016, removed support in early 2018, and reintroduced 4K in the summer of 2019. Since then, it has gradually been adding 4K support for additional devices and platforms. At launch, 4K was supported only on Apple TV 4K and Chromecast Ultra. Hulu added support for Xbox One in October and soon after FireTV and webOS. It has now added Roku to its list of supported devices for 4K streaming. In addition, 5.1 surround sound is now also supported from Hulu on Roku devices. Hulu does not offer audio in Dolby Atmos or video in HDR at this time. The 4K library is limited to originals such as The Handmaid’s Tale, Catch-22, The First, The Path, and Castle Rock. Hulu is still trailing Amazon and Netflix in the area but it is great to see that it is expanding support and making a renewed effort.
