Netflix is becoming a juggernaut but few are probably aware of just how big it has become in less than a decade. New data provided by Variety gives us some insight. In 2019, Netflix has released a total of 371 new original TV shows and movies, excluding content targeted for children. The figure is greater than the number of original titles released by the entire US TV industry in 2005. It is also more than one new TV show or movie every day.

Just over one quarter of the 371 originals are produced in overseas markets, according to the report. Of course, this is part of a much larger trend where streaming services are breaking down barriers and expanding across borders. This new generation of TV services is poised to eventually become bigger than the previous generation of regional TV broadcasters. 2020 may see even more originals released as Netflix will expand its output and new players such as Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO Max, and Peacock start to ramp up output. - Source: Variety
