Vizio's first OLED TVs feature 4K, HDMI 2.1 and FreeSync

Vizio is getting into the OLED game this year. Its first OLED TVs will be available in 55 and 65 inches with 4K resolution, HDMI 2.1, VRR, and FreeSync.

Vizio OLED TVs

This comes as no big surprise as LG Display - the manufacturer of OLED TV panels - confirmed in August 2019 that Vizio would launch OLED TVs in 2020 based on its panels that are also found in OLED TVs from LG, Sony, Panasonic, and others. At CES 2020, Vizio officially announced its new flagship TV, although without much detail. The unnamed OLED TVs will be available in 55 and 65 inches later this year. They will feature HDMI 2.1 for 4K at 120Hz input as well as HDMI VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and AMD FreeSync for smoother gaming experience. The TVs will include Vizio's IQ Ultra Processor, which has a 'ProGamning Engine' inside. Like other TV makers in 2020, Vizio is putting a lot on emphasis on gaming aspects in anticipation of next generation game consoles with HDMI 2.1; PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The company also said that the TV have a 4mm bezel and a cable management system.

Vizio OLED TV

Vizio is getting into the OLED game after years of selling LCD TVs exclusively, and the US-based company is one amongst several new TV makers to TVs based on the display technology this year. The TVs will be positioned as new flagship models. Lastly, the company said that the TVs will include the latest version of its SmartCast platform, now in version 4.0. Vizio refrained from fully detailing its new OLED TVs but said that its 2020 line-up of LCD TVs will support HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision. It is therefore likely that its OLED TVs will support all four HDR video formats, too. We also expect the TVs to support Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. Vizio's OLED TVs will be showcased for the first time at CES 2020 later this week and be available in 55 and 65 inches later this year. Availability and pricing details will be announced later.
