Roku announces 'Roku TV Ready' program for soundbars & receivers

Under the Roku TV Ready program, partners can make product that integrate seamlessly with a Roku TV. First products include audio products from Denon and TCL.

Roku announced its new initiative at CES 2020 and it sounds very similar in form to something like Apple's 'Made for iOS' (MFI) program.

The company explains that products carrying the Roku TV Ready badge have been "tested and certified to work effortlessly with a Roku TV model".

- "With the Roku TV Ready program, it’ll be easier than ever to setup soundbars and audio/video receivers and control them using just your Roku remote! Set up will be a breeze as Roku TV Ready devices are instantly recognized by the Roku TV and the Roku TV configures itself for the audio device. Integrated sound settings are accessible by pressing the (*) button on the Roku TV remote making both the TV’s sound settings and the audio device’s settings accessible from one place," the company said.



The company said that its first two partners are TCL and Sound United, which is responsible for brands such as Denon, Polk Audio, Marantz, Definitive Technology and Classé. Later this year, Denon soundbars will be updated to be compliant. TCL will announce its first products at its press conference later today.

Roku TVs must also be updated with the new integration features. An update is expected to be pushed out in the coming months.
