Samsung has it. Roku has it. Amazon has it. Next up is LG. The Apple TV app will launch on 2018, 2019, and 2020 LG TVs this year.
Apple TV app for LG TVs
At last year's CES, Apple stole the limelight as a handful of TV makers announced that AirPlay 2, HomeKit and the Apple TV app (iTunes back then) would come to their TVs. At that time, LG said that the app would be available for its 2019 TVs.
At this year's CES, LG announced that the app will also be made available for webOS-enabled TVs from 2018 and of course 2020.
- "New for 2020, the Apple TV app allows customers to subscribe and watch Apple TV+ and Apple TV channels as well as access their iTunes video library and buy or rent more than 100,000 films and TV shows. Customers with 2018 and 2019 LG TV models will also be able to enjoy the Apple TV app this year," said LG.
Apple TV+ is Apple's streaming service that launched in November 2019. The content is available from within the aforementioned app, which also includes iTunes movies in up to 4K HDR10 picture quality as well as 'channels', meaning content from other streaming services.

Not a replacement for Apple TV hardware
Despite the similarity in name, the Apple TV app is not a replacement for the Apple TV hardware. The box has a full operating system (tvOS), apps, games, the Arcade game service, wireless TV audio, and other features.
LG said that the app will be available sometime in 2020. The app is already available on the Apple TV box, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Samsung TVs, Roku TVs, and Amazon Fire TVs. It also coming to Sony and Vizio TVs.
AirPlay 2 and HomeKit will be reserved for 2019 and 2020 LG TVs.
