Google Stadia to add over 120 games, fix missing features in 2020

17 Jan 2020 | Rasmus Larsen |

Google Stadia's launch in November 2019 was disappointing but Google is promising to make up for it this year with over 120 games, including 10 exclusives, and fixes for missing features.

Stadia since launch

The launch of Stadia, Google's game streaming service, in November was plagued by issues, limitations and broken promises. The game library comprised just 22 titles and 4K games were upscaled from lower resolution. Google Stadia is still limited in form but since launch Google has made improvements to its platform. It has also issued the software update required to make any Chromecast Ultra device - not just those bought with the Stadia controller - compatible with Stadia. - "Stadia is an evolving platform, and we've been busy in the two months since launch adding great content, features and ways to play," the company said.

Exclusive Stadia games

In 2020, Google Stadia will add more than 120 games, including 10 exclusive games in the first half of 2020. The company said that it will share the titles of those exclusive games soon. It will release a list of games coming to Stadia in February later this month. In the first quarter of 2020, Google Stadia will add web browser support for 4K streaming and the wireless controller (it currently has to be connected via cable). In addition, it will bring support to more Android phones and expand Google Assistant functionality. There is no word on support for platforms such as iOS, Android TV, Smart TVs or Apple TV. Google Stadia currently requires a $10/month subscription plan to Stadia Pro. A free Stadia Base tier till launch sometime in 2020 but the company has yet to announce a launch date. - Source: Google Stadia
