Disney+ announces additional European launch dates
Disney has announced that the launch in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland will happen on March 24. Belgium, the Nordics and Portugal will follow in summer 2020.Disney+ European expansion
Disney will launch a week earlier than first announced in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland. In addition, the company has confirmed launch timing for an additional batch of European countries. - "The streaming service will launch in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland on March 24th. Additional Western Europe markets, including Belgium, the Nordics, and Portugal, will follow in summer 2020," the company announced. Pricing has also been confirmed at £6 per month in the UK and €7 per month in other European countries, although pricing may be a bit different in non-Euro countries. Customers will also have the option to pay one year in advance. Disney+ will cost £60 per year in the UK or €70 in Euro countries.Once Disney+ launches, competing services will start losing access from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm, National Geographic and in time most likely also content from the Fox studios that Disney acquired last year. In addition, Disney is producing original content such as The Mandalorian based on the Star Wars universe. Disney+ content is available for streaming in up to 4K resolution and Dolby Vision HDR as well as Dolby Atmos audio. The app is supported on most platforms, including Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, FireTV, LG Smart TV, Samsung Smart TV, and game consoles. Disney+ launched in the US, Canada and Holland in November 2019 and one week later in Australia and New Zealand.
