Samsung expands range of lifestyle TVs - The Frame, Serif & Sero

21 Feb 2020 | Rasmus Larsen |

Samsung will make its Serif TV available in new colors and expand its line-up of The Frame TV. It is also bringing the rotating The Sero to Europe and the US.

Expanded range of lifestyle TVs

Over the last few years, Samsung has launched a range of lifestyle TVs designed for consumers who seek a TV that can double as furniture for a modern living environment. The range now includes three models; The Frame, Serif and Sero. In 2020, Samsung will launch The Frame in 32 inches (Full HD) and 75 inches, in addition to the existing sizes. The Frame has gained a new 'auto curation' feature meaning that it will curate art from the built-in Art Store based on the viewers tastes. The Frame has been designed to be a regular TV that can act as a digital photo frame when not in use. It also comes with Samsung's external One Connect box for cable connections.

Samsung's Serif TV will be available in 43, 49, and 55 inches in two new colors; cloud white, cotton blue. This is in addition to the existing versions that will carry over into 2020. In addition, Samsung will launch The Sero in Europe and the US after launching it in Korea last year. The Sero can rotate between horizontal and vertical orientation, either automatically (if you own a Samsung smartphone) or manually with the push of a button on the remote control. Samsung says that The Sero is designed for a new generation of consumers who have grown up with social media and vertical video.

Samsung's lifestyle TVs are not created to excel in picture or audio quality but rather to appeal to a consumer group with different preferences. The TVs all feature edge-lit 4K LCD panels without zone dimming for HDR picture quality. Competing brands such as Apple and LG offer video art or moving visuals in HDR quality. All of the TVs will offer access to apps via Samsung's Tizen platform. This includes popular services such as Apple TV+, Netflix, HBO Now, Hulu, and YouTube. Disney+ is already available in select regions and the app will launch in European countries to coincide with the regional launches of Disney+, said Samsung. The expanded line-up of lifestyle TVs will be available in Europe and the US. Pricing details were not announced.
