Sports streaming service Dazn to launch globally from May 2020

Dazn, pronounced da-zone, is currently operating in nine countries, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. It will soon expand to more than 200 countries and territories. This first phase of the company's global expansion will be an English-language service focused on boxing. The first global event will be Canelo Alvarez fight during Cinco de Mayo Weekend. - "Beginning this spring, most of the world will have access to Dazn and its unmatched schedule of boxing events," said John Skipper, Group Executive Chairman, Dazn. "Our roster of championship fighters represents some of the world's most popular athletes and we'll be working with them to stage spectacular international events for years to come."Dazn's app is available for Smart TVs, streaming boxes, game consoles, smartphones, tablets, and web browsers. The company holds global rights to Golden Boy Promotions, Matchroom Boxing USA and GGG Promotions. Dazn is planning to add additional sports rights to its portfolio later. In Germany, the streaming service offers football from Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1, baseball from MLB, basketball from NBA, MotoGP racing, fights from UFC, and more. In Germany it has also secured the rights to Champions League from 2021. Pricing by market will be announced in the coming weeks, the company said.
