Disney+ app now available on Philips Android TVs in Europe

The Disney+ app has been approved for Philips Android TVs in Europe and is now available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, the UK and Ireland, in addition to Netherlands.

The Disney+ app was already available as an app for Google's Android TV platform but it had not been approved for Philips Android TVs in the European countries that Disney+ launched in recently.

TP Vision, the company responsible for Philips TVs in Europe, has announced that the Disney+ app is now available for Philips Android TVs. It will come pre-installed on 2020 models whereas owners of Philips Android TVs from 2019 and earlier can find the app in the Google Play store.



- "The Disney+ application is now available on a broad range of Philips Android TVs – with their unique immersive Ambilight technology – in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, the UK and Ireland. The service has been already available and very successful in the Netherlands since autumn 2019," the company said.

TP Vision said that the app is available for "all Philips Android TVs". The company has been selling Android TVs since 2015. The Disney+ app for LG webOS-based Smart TVs and Samsung Tizen-based Smart TVs is limited to TV models from 2016 or later, despite many earlier models being powered by the same webOS or Tizen operating system.

Disney+ launched in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland on March 24 and in France on April 7. It will launch in additional Western Europe countries including Belgium, Nordics and Portugal this summer.
