New soundbars from Sony: 3.1ch HT-G700 and 5.1ch HT-S20R

There is still no successor to the flagship HT-ST5000 in sight. Instead Sony is adding new mid-range soundbars to its line-up. HT-G700 is a 3.1-channel soundbar with stereo channels, center, and a wireless subwoofer. The company says that a priority has been to make a soundbar "with clear dialogue". G700 supports Dolby Atmos plus DTS:X and Sony claims that its 'Vertical Surround Engine' combined with signal processing can simulate the more immersive sound experience to some degree. The soundbar supports HDMI eARC/ARC.HT-S20R is a 5.1-channel soundbar with stereo channels, center channel, two rear speakers, and a wired subwoofer. It supports more conventional surround sound formats such as Dolby Digital Plus and has a total output of 400W. Both soundbars support Bluetooth for music playback. Sony HT-G700 and HT-S20R will be available from May 2020 for £450 and £250 in the UK or €450 and €250 in other European countries. Sony HT-G700 will be available in the US for $600.
