New Sony AR app lets you visualize its TVs in your home
Sony has launched the 'Envision TV AR' app that lets you use an iOS or Android mobile device with a camera to visualize how a new Sony TV would look in your home.Sony AR app
With the new app users can "more accurately determine which TV size is perfect for their space by using an AR-enabled smartphone", the company said. - "As we continue to stay home, this app offers a new way for our customers to confidently purchase a Sony TV in the comfort of their living rooms," said Mike Fasulo, president, Sony Electronics North America. "We hope this new technology takes the guesswork out of shopping online." Users can view TVs mounted on the wall or on a stand. It will also let users explore details such as input/output ports. The app works on iPhone 6s or later (with iOS 12 or later) and certain Android smartphones based on Android 8.0 or later.Sony is not the first TV manufacturer to offers such an app. Years back, Panasonic released a cruder version called the 'Viera AR Setup Simulator' and more recently, in 2018, Bang & Olufsen released an AR app to let you visualize its TVs and speakers at home. The app is free and available from Apple's app store and Google's Play store in select regions.
