Samsung has unveiled HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T, its two new high-end soundbars for 2020. The 9.1.4 and 7.1.2 channel systems support Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and eARC.

Joining the Q800T, Q70T, Q60T mid-range soundbars, HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T complete Samsung's soundbar line-up for 2020. These are successors to last year's Q90R soundbar.
HW-Q950T is a 9.1.4-channel system with integrated up-firing and side-firing speakers as well as discreet rear speakers (with up-firing units) and a wireless subwoofer. HW-Q900T is a 7.1.4-channel system without the rear speakers.
- "The HW-Q950T delivers the audio quality of 9.1.4-channel, the maximum number of channels for currently available home-theater systems in a single soundbar. The model packs in extra-powerful sound with two wireless rear up-firing speakers and also adds left and right wide channel speakers to the previous 7.1.2-channel system, allowing the audio output to express the motion on the screen in a more realistic way with greater immersion," said Samsung.

Like last year's models, they support both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. They are also equipped with an HDMI eARC connection that was added later to the 2019 models via a firmware update. There are two HDMI inputs with support for 4K HDR10+ passthrough.
- "Compared to 2019 soundbar models, Samsung reduced the height of both models to 69.5mm from 83mm to fit perfectly with the TV. The soundbars are also wrapped in Kvadrat textile, adding premium elegance while maximizing sound penetration," the company said.
Another new feature is 'Q-Symphony' that lets owners of a 2020 Samsung TV use the soundbar in conjunction with the built-in TV speakers. In addition, they feature SmartThings and Amazon Alexa.

The new high-end soundbars from Samsung will compete with Atmos soundbars from LG, Sony, Sennheiser, TCL, and others. Sonos recently launched Arc, its first Atmos soundbar, and Vizio will launch a new, more advanced Atmos soundbar later this year.
Samsung did not announce pricing details but HW-Q950T is listed on samsung.au for 2100 AUD, which is approximately 1450 USD / 1300 Euro. It will start shipping later this month.
