Netflix makes 'Our Planet', 'Bird Box' & other titles available for free

Netflix has made a total of 10 series (first episode) and movies, including Stranger Things, Out Planet and Bird Box, available to stream for free.

Netflix is trying out a new tactic to lure in subscribers. The streaming giant has made 10 of its original titles available to stream free of charge to give new viewers a short introduction to the service. 

The current selection covers Stranger Things, Murder Mystery, Elite, Boss Baby: Back in Business, Bird Box, When They See Us, The Two Popes, Our Planet as well as Grace and Frankie. For TV series only the first episode can be watched free of charge.

- "We’re looking at different marketing promotions to attract new members and give them a great Netflix experience," said a Netflix spokesperson.



However, there are limitations. Viewing is limited to web browsers on PC/Mac and Android – iOS is excluded. You will not be able to install the Netflix app on your favorite device and start watching the free content. Streaming quality is also limited. You will need to pay to enjoy 4K HDR and Atmos.

Netflix said that it is a global initiative that is available in all countries where it is currently operating. Earlier this year, Apple also made a selection of its content available for free.
