LG rolls out its new cheaper BX OLED TVs

BX will replace last year's B9 as the most affordable OLED TV range from LG – still with HDMI 2.1 and VRR. After its US debut this summer, LG is now rolling BX in Europe and other regions.

LG's B range has for years been one of the most affordable 4K OLED TVs on the market, and yet also one of the most feature-packed as it usually offers most of the features found in the more expensive ranges.

Once again this year, LG BX offers HDMI 2.1 ports and features including VRR, eARC, and ALLM. However, only two HDMI ports have HDMI 2.1 bandwidth as opposed to four on the LG CX and GX ranges. It is also equipped with a slight less capable video processor (called Alpha 7-3).



The design of BX largely resembles that of CX but it will not be available in the new smaller 48-inch format. It will be widely available in 55 and 65 inches, and in some regions also a larger 77-inch size.

Besides that, BX comes with all of the features that you would expect in a modern LG TV, including the webOS 5.0 platform with streaming apps, and support for three HDR formats (HDR10, HLG og Dolby Vision). In addition it features AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, Dolby Atmos support, and support for three VRR systems (HDMI VRR, G-Sync Compatible, and FreeSync).

LG BX will compete with entry-level OLED models from other brands including the Philips 7-series OLED and Panasonic's HZ980. If past years are any indication, LG BX will also drop significantly in price later this year or next year to compete head-to-head with mid-range LCD TVs with inferior picture quality.

LG BX is available now in the US, the UK, and a few other countries in Europe. It will be more widely available in European countries and other regions by October, the company said. Additional information can be found below.
