65-inch LG OLED TVs from the 2016 and 2017 generations are part of a voluntary recall program announced by the European Commission, according to reports by Forbes and 4KFilme.de. Updated with two additional models.
OLED TVs from 2016 & 2017
Earlier this year, LG initiated a voluntary recall program in South Korea to fix OLED TVs with "power boards (that) carry the risk of current overflow" leading to overheating. The program has now been expanded to Europe.
In South Korea, affected products include 65- and 77-inch models from the 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 generations. The European Commission is only including 5 LG OLED models in the voluntary recall program announced for Europe.
The TVs were assembled in Poland and distributed in the following countries: Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Portugal, Sweden, Spain, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Latvia, and Croatia.
- "During the operation it is possible that the TV overheats which might cause certain damages to the power board or back cover preventing the normal operation of the TV. Potential burn/scald of finger in case of unintentional contact with hot surface of TV back cover; Potential smoke inhalation from defected TV," said the European Commission.

2017: 65-inch LG OLED65B7
2017: 65-inch LG OLED65C7
2017: 65-inch LG OLED65E7
2017: 65-inch LG OLED65W7
FlatpanelsHD is not familiar with any consumer reports of overheating LG OLED TVs. The company is apparently initiating the voluntary recall program as a cautionary act to prevent that any potential problems may arise in the future.
