In a surprise announcement, Roku said that the Roku Channel is now available on main rival Amazon's Fire TV platform.
Keep enemies close?
Roku and FireTV are the two leading TV platforms in the US, ahead of Apple TV (tvOS), Android TV, and others. Roku reaches approximately 43 million people in the US, according to its financial report, and FireTV is in the same ballpark according to estimates.
So it is perhaps a bit surprising to see Amazon and Roku collaborate.

- "Calling all Amazon Fire TV users! We have some exciting news for you – The Roku Channel, the home for free and premium TV on The Roku platform, will begin rolling out today to Amazon Fire TV streaming devices, Fire TV Edition smart TVs, and Fire TV Edition soundbars in the US," announced Roku.
The Roku Channels provides free access to ad-supported movies, TV series, kids content, live TV, and more. You will not need a Roku account to log in on FireTV devices either, the companies confirmed.
You can also use Alexa voice commands to open the Roku Channel app on FireTV.
