All Slingbox products will cease working by November 2022, the company has announced. Some apps will stop working before the deadline.
R.I.P. Slingbox
Slingbox was a hot product at one time but it has for many of its users been supplanted by streaming services and related technologies. If you are still using a Slingbox, it is time to move on. The company is shutting down all things related to Slingbox.
- "Slingbox servers will be permanently taken offline 24 months after the discontinued announcement date (November 9, 2020), at which point ALL Slingbox devices and services will become inoperable," said Sling Media. "Until then, most Slingbox models will continue to work normally, but the number of supported devices for viewing will steadily decrease as versions of the SlingPlayer apps become outdated and/or lose compatibility."

Some apps will stop working before the deadline. As of November 9, 2020, SlingPlayer apps for Android tablets, Android smartphones, Roku, and Windows Phone will no longer be supported and no longer be available for download, the company said.

A: Some versions of the SlingPlayer app may receive maintenance updates, but there will be no new development work. Outdated or legacy versions of the SlingPlayer apps may be removed from the app stores without notice.
