In addition to the Apple TV app, Disney+, Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, and Twitch apps that were all announced earlier, PS5 owners in North America will have access to Vudu. - "Vudu is focused on delivering fans the latest new release and premium event titles, as well as our comprehensive catalog of movies and TV shows, and we’re thrilled to offer all of that content on PS5 at launch," said Kevin Shepela, EVP, Chief Commercial Officer, Fandango. "It’s a great time for fans to find their favorites to stream on their consoles, as we head toward the holidays and our Thanksgiving week sales."Vudu said that its PS5 app will support 4K streaming but it did not provide information on HDR support. Vudu also offers movies in Dolby Atmos audio but Atmos decoding is not supported on PlayStation 5 so it is unlikely to work. The Vudu app is already available on PS4 so it is not a big surprise that it has found its way to PS5 as well. However, Vudu was not included on the list of apps that would available for the launch of PS5. At that time, Sony only confirmed a handful of apps and said that Amazon, MyCanal, Hulu, Peacock and other streaming apps will be coming later. On PlayStation 5, Vudu will be a direct alternative to Sony's own movie store (via PlayStation Store) and the Apple TV app (iTunes movie library).
