HBO Max launches on FireTV – still missing on Roku

WarnerMedia's new streaming service, HBO Max, will launch on Amazon FireTV players and TVs as well as Fire tables on November 17. The app is still missing on Roku.

HBO Max on FireTVFireTV owners will be able to enjoy HBO Max's 10,000 hours of content from HBO, Warner Bros, DC, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Turner Classic Movies, and more.

Alexa, play Raised by Wolves."

Upon launch of the app, subscribers of HBO though Amazon's Prime Video Channels will be able to use their Amazon login credentials to access HBO Max. The HBO app for FireTV will automatically update to become HBO Max, and here subscribers can log in using their HBO credentials. New users can subscribe directly from the app.

Users can use Alexa voice commands such as "Alexa, find HBO Max" or even access specific shows with commands like "Alexa, play South Park".

HBO offers content in maximum 1080p resolution without HDR and Dolby Atmos.

Amazon said that HBO Max is "compatible with the entire Fire TV line-up including the all-new Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite".

While the launch of HBO Max on FireTV brings an end to Amazon and WarnerMedia's disagreements and negotiations, the service is still missing in action on the leading TV platform in the US, namely Roku. WarnerMedia did not provide a status update on Roku availability either.
