Beovision Contour is B&O's first 48" OLED TV
Bang & Olufsen is today expanding its TV line-up with Beovision Contour, a 48-inch 4K OLED TV with sound technology from the company's Stage soundbar.OLED with latest technology
"Sound is more than half the picture". That is the guiding principle of Bang & Olufsen's strategy for the Beovision range of TVs. In especially small-size TVs, sound tends to be down-prioritized. And picture quality is often compromised too. Beovision Contour changes that. - "We are excited to launch Beovision Contour, a screen viewing experience that doesn’t compromise on quality or design aesthetics despite its size. The partnership with LG continues and the display in Contour is an LG CX, the company confirmed to FlatpanelsHD. It is a 4K OLED TV with the latest video technologies including HDMI 2.1 and Dolby Vision IQ – video systems not found in many other TVs today. Bang & Olufsen goes as far as to proclaim that "Beovision Contour is second to none when it comes to realistic colour rendering, and absolute black levels". It is also a significant upgrade over its previous 48-inch TV, the Beovision Horizon. Besides Bang & Oolufsen, TV makers like LG, Sony and Philips are offering 48-inch OLED TVs.
A built-in Stage
The company has taken sound technology from its Stage soundbar and integrated it as a module underneath the OLED display in Contour. It is a powerful 3-channel speaker system with four 4-inch bass units. It has a total of 11 speaker units, each powered by a dedicated amplifier. The speaker system is optimized for both TV sound and music. It supports music via AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Beolink, Bluetooth, line-in, Tunein, Deezer, Qplay and various music apps available on LG's webOS platform in the TV. The first three systems allow you to expand music to multiroom together with other compatible speakers. It technically supports Dolby Atmos but does not come with up-firing or side-firing units. Unlike B&O's larger TVs, Contour does not support Powerlink or WiSA either, meaning that you cannot expand the sound stage. It has been designed as a stand-alone TV.

Beovision Contour was designed in collaboration with Torsten Valeur, with the intension of creating a timeless design, the company said. It can be positioned on the floor, wall or table. - "Beovision Contour is an all in one cinema and music experience within a single unit, allowing you the freedom to use it as a primary or secondary depending on the size of your home. Beovision Contour can be placed anywhere for optimum décor integration, whether it be in the kitchen, bedroom or living room, positioned on the floor, wall or table." Contour is available with three different frames; silver aluminum, gold tone aluminum, and black aluminum. The floor stand will be available in the same three aluminum colors. It can be manually rotated 180 degrees to each side. The wall bracket solution turns 40 degrees to each side. There are also various speaker covers available; light oak, smoked oak and fabric. Cables are routed through the centre rear of the TV, hidden from view. It creates "a holistic 360-degree design" with a high degree of placement flexibility, the company argued. Everything can be controlled with the Beoremote One. Beovision Contour will be available in Europe from November 2020 for 5700 Euro or 5150 UK pounds including the wall bracket, and 6200 Euro including the floor stand (also available separately for 1200 Euro).
