Samsung's 2021 'The Frame' TV is 46% thinner

Samsung will launch a new version of 'The Frame', the lifestyle TV that doubles as a digital picture frame. The 2021 version is 46% thinner and will be available in 32 to 75 inches.

Samsung launched the first version of 'The Frame' in 2017. At CES 2021, the company said that it has sold over one million units to date. The 2021 version is thinner than all previous models; 46% thinner or 24.9mm to be exact.

- "The 2021 version builds on The Frame’s innovative legacy, offering a more customizable experience in a slimmer form. The Frame is about half thinner compared to previous iterations, mirroring the depth of a traditional picture frame. New attachable bezel options come in five color options and two different customizable styles—Modern and Beveled—to match the aesthetic of whatever room The Frame is in," announced Samsung.



The Frame 2021 is a regular TV in use and a digital picture frame when inactive. It will be available in 32 to 75-inch sizes with a 4K LCD panel and edge LED. It also takes advantage of quantum dots and will be marketed as a "QLED" TV. It will, however, not feature the more advanced miniLED backlight and processing of the new flagship LCD TVs.

Access to Samsung's Art Store with over 1400 pieces of digital art will set you back $5 per month, or you can use your own photos. Samsung says that a new auto-curation function can recommend artwork based on your preferences.

The 32- and 43-inch models work in vertical orientation but must be turned manually. The larger screens work only in horizontal orientation.



Other than that, you are getting the same features as in other Samsung TVs including access to streaming apps via the Tizen platform.

The Frame 2021 joins Samsung's line-up of lifestyle TVs that now covers The Frame, The Serif, The Sero, The Terrance and The Premiere. The other four were launched or upgraded in 2019 or 2020.
