In addition to 3D audio formats Dolby Atmos, MPEG-H and DTS:X, Sennheiser's soundbar now supports Sony's new '360 Reality Audio' format for music.
Spatial music
With the latest firmware update, Sennheiser's high-end soundbar has expanded its support for object-based audio formats. Object-based audio can provide a more immersive music listening experience.
- "360 Reality Audio is a new music experience that uses Sony's object-based 360 Spatial Sound technology. Individual sounds such as vocals, chorus, piano, guitar, bass and even sounds of a live audience can be placed in a 360 spherical sound field, giving artists and creators a new way to express their creativity. Listeners can be immersed in a field of sound exactly as intended by artists and creators, while music content created in this new format can be conveniently played back through compatible music streaming services," the companies said.
The Sennheiser Ambeo soundbar also supports Dolby Atmos, MPEG-H and DTS:X. These three formats are used primarily for movies and TV series, although Atmos is gaining traction in music and gaming too.

Use built-in Chromecast
The companies explained that the user can gain access music in the 360 Reality Audio format via the built-in Chromecast function in the Ambeo soundbar.
Nugs.net is supported now. Deezer and Tidal also partner with Sony to support 360 Reality Audio, although it is not clear if they support it over Chromecast at this time. Sennheiser said that "additional services and content (is) expected to follow".
