Sony has started testing PlayStation Plus Video Pass, a new video streaming service that let PS4 and PS5 users access movies and series on their console.

Sony is considering rolling out a new video streaming service included in PlayStation Plus membership. The company is currently testing it in Poland where it offers access to 21 titles. The library will be refreshed quarterly.
- "We want to see how players will benefit from such a service," Nick Maguire, SIE’s global services VP, told Spider's Web. "What titles do they watch, what do they care about, how often do they use them."

PlayStation Plus Video Pass offers access to movies and series from Sony Pictures including Bloodshot, Venom, and Jumanji: The Next Level. There was no mention of plans to support 4K HDR streaming.

PlayStation shuts down movies store
Sony recently announced that its PlayStation Store will no longer offer movie purchases and rentals. The company cited a "shift in customer behavior" to subscription-based and ad-based entertainment services. It is possible that Sony sees PlayStation Plus Video Pass as the next step after closing its digital movie store.
However, the company declined to comment on its plans to roll out the new service broadly.
- "At this stage, however, I cannot say whether it will be created and what the test process will look like for other markets, as well as what the future is for PlayStation Plus Video Pass after the test period."
Sony also recently launched the new Bravia Core streaming service with "UHD BD equivalent quality" on its 2021 TVs. FlatpanelsHD included an evaluation of Bravia Core in our Sony A90J review.
