Hisense USA has unveiled the 2021 TV line-up, comprising its first 8K LCD TV and first 'Dual-Cell' 4K LCD TV. The company's most advanced technology is reserved for 75-inch TVs.
Hisense 2021 TV line-up
Hisense's new flagship 4K TV uses 'Dual-Cell' LCD technology - sometimes referred to as dual-layer. It means that two LCD panels are stacked on top of each other, with one panel controlling grey tones and the other color.
While dual-cell LCD technology can improve contrast and luminance control, the first implementations have also suffered from low brightness, flicker, and increased energy consumption. Hisense has showcased prototypes since 2019.
The TV will be known as Hisense U9DG and will also feature Android TV, multi-HDR support (HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision), HDMI 2.1 with VRR support, WiSA wireless audio, Filmmaker Mode, and IMAX Enhanced certification.
It will be available this summer in 75 inches (75U9DG) only for $3500, which is similar to a 2021 77-inch 4K OLED TV that Hisense is pegging it against.
First 8K TV, full 4K TV range
The company will also launch its first 8K TV in the US. U800GR will be available in 75 inches this summer for $3200. The LCD panel has 180 local dimming zones and it supports HDR (HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision). It runs Roku.
Hisense U8G are 4K LCD TVs that will be available in 55 and 65 inches for $950 and $1300, respectively. The TVs feature Android TV, HDMI 2.1, VRR, Dolby Atmos, WiSA wireless audio, and Filmmaker Mode.
In addition, Hisense will launch a full line-up of more affordable 4KLCD models in the U7G, R7, R6, and A6 series. These come with features like HDMI 2.1, Android TV or Roku, limited local dimming, HDR support etc.
