Dolby Atmos support is no longer reserved for high-end TVs. Vestel, the OEM behind entry-level Toshiba, Hitachi, Panasonic and other TVs, is rolling out wide Atmos support.
Dolby Atmos in TVs
Not many TVs are equipped with powerful speakers but having Dolby Atmos support in a TV also allows the user to output the object-based audio to an external soundbar or receiver via HDMI.
Dolby Atmos support first came to TVs in 2017 where it was reserved for high-end TVs. In subsequent years, Atmos support expanded to mid-range TVs while streaming providers like iTunes, Netflix and Disney+ started offering content.

Dolby Atmos support is now – after just four years – becoming a standard feature even in entry-level TVs, as evidenced by Vestel's announcement that it is rolling out support to the majority of Vestel-produced 4K Smart TVs. Vestel is/was the OEM of entry-level and some mid-range TVs from Finlux, Grundig, Hitachi, JVC, Panasonic, Strong, Toshiba, Thomson, and many others.
- "This wider roll-out of Dolby Atmos is an important development, enabling us to help raise the bar for everyday TV audio," said Baris Altinkaya, Manager of Marketing & Product, Vestel. "Now even more of our TV ranges will be able to deliver an accessible, out-of-the-box immersive audio solution that can considerably improve the viewing experience."

To take full advantage of Dolby Atmos you need a capable external sound system. For full-quality Dolby Atmos from a Blu-ray disc or game console, the TV must also support HDMI eARC.
