The highly anticipated The Lord of The Rings series will make its world premiere on September 2, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video. The company has also released the first image.

The Lord of the Rings books have sold an estimated 150 million copies. The next chapter begins in September 2022 with the release of Amazon Studios' The Lord of The Rings television series.

The series takes place during the Second Age of Middle-earth's history, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books.

Record-breaking budget
The first season will be the most expensive television show produced to date with its gigantic $465 million budget. The television series is produced in collaboration with J. R. R. Tolkien's descendents and filming of the first season has just wrapped in New Zealand.
The retail giant has confirmed that the series will debut worldwide in more than 240 countries/territories on Amazon Prime Video on the same day.
The yet-to-be-titled series will debut on Friday, September 2, 2022, with new episodes coming weekly.
