After adding support for 1080p60 and 4K streaming, Hulu has started rolling out support for HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision on select devices and platforms.
Look for the HDR badge
Hulu titles available in High Dynamic Range include originals like Catch-22, Hellstrom, The Act, The Handmaid's Tale, The Runaways, and Wu-Tang.
- "Users can currently stream select Hulu originals in high-dynamic range (HDR), HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision on select devices — HDR content delivers a higher contrast range for much finer picture details. An HDR badge will appear on the details page of content available to stream in HDR" the company explained in a support document.
To watch HDR content users must update the Hulu app to the latest version (1.4.233) and use one of the following devices:
Roku (HDR compatible models)
Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube devices (HDR compatible models with Fire OS 7 or later)
Apple TV 4K (Gen 5 or later)
Vizio (HDR compatible models)
Chromecast Ultra (HDR-compatible models)
Devices like LG TVs and Xbox support Hulu's 4K but not HDR at this time.
As for sound, Hulu supports up to 5.1 surround sound – still no Dolby Atmos.
