The HBO Max app is now available on Vizio SmartCast TVs in the US, with support for 4K but not Dolby Atmos. A selection of free episodes will be advertised on the TVs' homescreens.
HBO Max on Vizio TVs
Not long after the launch on LG TVs, HBO Max is expanding its reach to Vizio TVs with the SmartCast platform. And if you are quick you can watch The Suicide Squad (until September 5).
Vizio's HBO Max app supports streaming in 4K resolution and possibly HDR10 too – it is a little unclear. Dolby Atmos is not supported on Vizio TVs, said HBO. In addition, users will be able to find HBO Max shows and movies through voice commands.
HBO Max currently has a library with more than 13,000 hours of content including Warner Bros same-day premieres. A new HBO Max row on the homescreen of Vizio TVs will advertise free episodes and featured content
- "As part of the launch, VIZIO will feature a carousel on the SmartCast home screen for users to enjoy HBO Max’s latest limited, free experience. The experience gives viewers free access to some of the latest and most popular original series from HBO Max’s epic library of titles, ready to discover with no subscription required. The SmartCast carousel will include access for 13 Originals, with a rotation of new titles from the HBO Max library. SmartCast users can check out featured episodes from HBO Originals like Game of Thrones, Euphoria, and Perry Mason along with Max Originals like Love Life, Raised By Wolves, and more," the companies said.
HBO Max is now available on Vizio TVs
Vizio is late to the party but users have been able to beam HBO Max to their Vizio TV through AirPlay and Chromecast. Both options will continue to be available in addition to the app.

HBO Max is available in the US and select other regions for $15/month ad-free or $10/month with ads. HBO Max will start its expansion into Europe this fall with the Nordics and Spain, followed by Central and Eastern Europe in 2022.
