Amazon will start making its own TVs. The Fire TV Omni and 4-series models will launch next month as affordable mid-range 4K TVs with a focus on smart features and Alexa.
Amazon-branded TVs
Amazon's Fire TV Omni, which will be available in 43, 50, 55, 65 and 75 inches, will feature 4K resolution. There is support HDR10 and HLG (and Dolby Vision from 65-inch and up) but no zone dimming LED system to accommodate it.
Amazon is putting emphasis on the smart features and Alexa voice controls enabled by built-in far-field microphones in the TVs. The Fire TV platform provides access to Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix, and many other streaming services.
- "We’ve reimagined what a TV can do by building it with two of our most popular experiences at the core—the intelligent always-available power of far-field Alexa, and Fire TV’s content-forward approach to entertainment," said Daniel Rausch, Vice President, Amazon Entertainment Devices and Services. "Our new Fire TV Omni Series smart TVs, with hands-free access to Alexa, make controlling your TV faster, simpler, and more natural."

New Alexa & audio features
Users will be able to use Alexa voice commands to find TV shows and movies. It will also be possible to control channels and inputs as well as video playback, closed captions, TV brightness, TV/soundbar volume, and more.
Like Amazon's new Fire TV Stick 4K Max, the Fire TV Omni features 'Alexa Home Theater' to allow users to wirelessly connect compatible Amazon Echo speakers for an improved sound experience.
- "With Fire TV Omni Series and Alexa Home Theater, you can wirelessly connect Echo devices such as the Echo Studio for Dolby Atmos, or pair other Echo smart speakers for immersive sound. Your Alexa Home Theater experience works across any compatible device connected to Fire TV Omni Series, including cable boxes, gaming consoles, or antenna sources."
The TVs support HDMI 2.1's eARC but the ports are standard HDMI 2.0 bandwidth. The TVs are equipped with 60Hz LCD panels.

No high-end models
The Fire TV 4-Series are more basic 4K TVs that will be available in 43, 50, and 55 inches. They offer access to streaming services and support many of the same Alexa features as the Omni, the company said.
Amazon has been licensing its Fire TV platform to other TV brands like Insignia and Toshiba but these are the retail giant's first Amazon-branded TVs. It puts the company in direct competition with the other TV makers that sell TVs through its online portal. The TVs will also be available through Best Buy.
So far, makers of high-end TVs with OLED or local dimming LED LCD technology can breathe a sigh of relief as Amazon's TVs are not designed to deliver the best possible picture quality on the market. However, Amazon is reportedly designing a separate TV model in-house that may up the stakes.
Amazon's Fire TV Omni and 4-Series will be available in the US starting October 27. Omni will come in 43” ($409.99), 50” ($509.99), and 55” ($559.99), with the larger Dolby Vision-compatible models coming in 65” ($829.99) and 75” ($1,099.99). The 4-Series will be available in 43” ($369.99), 50” ($469.99), and 55” ($519.99). The TVs can be pre-ordered now on amazon.com.
