Roku's upgraded Streaming Stick 4K replaces the Stick Plus. It features a 30% faster chip, improved WiFi, support for HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and new software tricks.
Upgraded Roku Stick 4K
The upgraded stick is equipped with a new SoC that is up to 30% faster, according to the company. It will be Roku's most capable stick device with support for 4K, HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision streaming.
- "The Roku Streaming Stick has been a fan favourite for years and we’ve redesigned it in the Roku Streaming Stick 4K to be faster and more powerful than ever," said Mark Ely, VP of Retail Product Strategy at Roku. "It’s super-charged so you can stream in beautiful 4K and Dolby Vision even at a distance from your router and tucked neatly behind your TV. Whatever your streaming needs, we’ve got an incredible product lineup that features innovations from our singular focus on the TV streaming business."

The company highlighted other improvements such as "long-range Wi-Fi receiver that delivers up to 2x faster Wi-Fi speeds" and HDMI CEC support to "power up the TV, adjust the volume, and control the Roku Streaming Stick 4K device with one remote". It features AirPlay 2 and HomeKit as well as Google Assistant and Alexa support. It also comes bundled with Roku's voice remote.
Roku's upgraded streaming stick comes hot on the heels of Amazon's upgraded Fire TV Stick 4K Max, which also boasts chip upgrades, faster WiFi, and support for up to Dolby Vision HDR.

In addition, Roku refreshed the Ultra LT box with a faster processor, more storage, Dolby Vision support, Bluetooth audio streaming, built-in Ethernet, and a new Wi-Fi chip for longer range. It will be sold exclusively in the US through Walmart for $80.
Together with the new hardware, the company announced Roku OS 10.5 with several new features detailed here.
The Roku Streaming Stick 4K will be available in the US, UK, Canada, and Latin America starting from mid-October for $50 / £50. A 4K+ version with Roku's hands-free voice remote control will be available for $70 in the US.
