Redbox is expanding its footprint to PlayStation consoles to let users access its library of rented, purchased or free ad-supported movies and shows.
Redbox on PlayStation
Like the Apple TV app, PS Store and Vudu, Redbox – perhaps best known for its physical rental kiosks – gives PlayStation console access to new movies that can be rented or purchased separately (TVOD).
The Redbox app is available now on Sony PlayStation 5 and it will soon come to PlayStation 4 consoles too. Redbox is available in the US.
- "We’re thrilled that our app is now available on the PlayStation 5," said Chris Yates, GM of Redbox. "We have so much great content to discover, and we’re constantly adding more films and TV shows, as well as free TV channels. I know PlayStation 5 users will find something to enjoy on Redbox, which will soon be available on PlayStation 4 as well."

Some movies are available in 4K resolution, according to the company's support pages. The app is also available on Android TV, Apple TV, Roku and Xbox as well as LG, Samsung and Vizio Smart TVs.
In addition, it has a library of ad-supported movies and shows (AVOD) and free ad-supported TV channels.
