At CES 2022, Asus has unveiled its first 42- and 48-inch 4K OLED monitors, the ROG Swift PG42UQ and PG48UQ. They have a special micro-texture coating.

These new OLED displays can get brighter and have reduced glare compared to 4K OLED displays from competitors, according to Asus. Peak brightness should reach 900 nits (3% window).
- "Unlike other OLED displays, ROG Swift OLED series monitors feature the new anti-glare Micro-texture coating on the panel surface to reduce glare, allowing viewers to see more precise onscreen colors. These displays also boast a unique thermal solution with a custom heatsink and internal airflow layout designed to optimize heat exchange. These keep operating temperatures below 50˚ C (up to 16% lower than competitor models) and still reach a peak brightness of 900 nits," said Asus. "That thermal headroom lets these monitors offer a peak brightness of 900 nits, while limiting burn-in for reliable long-term performance."

Asus' PG42UQ and PG48UQ 4K OLED gaming monitors
The 42-inch PG42UQ and 48-inch PG48UQ are equipped with LG Display's OLED panel. Asus highlights features such as 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, 0.1 ms response time, 10-bit color, and pre-calibration (Delta E < 2).
The monitors are equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports (48Gbps), two HDMI 2.0 ports, DisplayPort 1.4 and a USB hub. They also support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode).
Competitors like Acer and Dell have also announced new OLED monitors at CES 2022. Acer has touted 4K 138Hz support for its new 48-inch OLED gaming monitor while Dell announced the first QD-OLED monitor (34-inch). The micro-texture coating and the new 42-inch size set Asus' monitors apart.
The company refers to the 42-inch model as "the world's first 42-inch gaming monitor". While it is technically true, it is worth noting that LG's 42-inch C2 OLED TV will offer most of the same features including 4K120 and VRR over HDMI 2.1.
Pricing and availability details will be announced later.
