A new range of Nokia Android TVs will launch in Europe in sizes ranging from 43 to 70 inches. The LCD TVs feature 4K resolution and use quantum dots.
Nokia "QLED" LCD TVs
Nokia recently made a comeback as a TV brand in Europe. However, these are not made in Finland and actually have little to do with the fallen mobile phone giant. The Nokia TVs are produced under license by a company called Streamview.
Like the first Nokia TVs in Europe, this new range is powered by Android TV with access to streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix. New apps and games can be downloaded from the Google Play store. The TVs feature 8GB of storage and a quad-core processor – fairly standard stuff for Android TVs.
The new Nokia 43- to 70-inch LCD TVs
The LCD TVs feature 4K resolution and will be sold as "QLED" because there is quantum dot film inside used to expand the color gamut of the display. Samsung and TCL already sell their LCD TVs as "QLED" but with the launch of the new Nokia TVs "QLED" enters entry-level territory.
The company said that the TVs are equipped with a subwoofer. There are three HDMI 2.0 ports, built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, built-in Chromecast, and a Game mode. There are DVB-T2, S2 and C tuners inside.
The new Nokia TVs will compete with entry-level and lower mid-range LCD TVs from more established brands. Panasonic and Philips offer Android TVs while Sony has moved on to Google TV.
The Nokia "QLED" LCD TVs will be available in select European markets starting this month for approximately 650 Euro (43"), 750 Euro (50"), 850 Euro (55"), 900 Euro (58") and 1600 Euro (70).
