Philips 2022 LCD TV line-up to include 55" miniLED, 86" 'The One'

Philips is bringing its miniLED backlight technology down into a 55-inch LCD TV while "The One" will gain HDMI 2.1 features and for the first time come in 86 inches.

In addition to the 2022 OLED TV models, Philips will in the first half of 2022 introduce new LCD TVs models ranging from high-end with miniLED zone dimming to entry-level with HD resolution. The new PML9507 replaces last year's PML9506 as the most advanced LCD TV from Philips, and for the first time it will be available in 55 inches in addition to 65 and 75 inches. PML9507 comes with HDMI 2.1 ports (4K120, VRR) and miniLED zone dimming but the number of dimming zones was not confirmed. Last year's models featured 1024 dimming zones. New for 2022 is Android 11, an on-screen Game bar that lets the user access gaming picture settings, center channel mode together with wireless DTS Play-Fi speakers, and IMAX Enhanced certification. Also read: Philips will "most probably" move to Google TV in 2023 Most of Philips' 2022 TVs are powered by Google's Android TV platform which offer access to streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix. New apps and games can be downloaded from the Google Play store. The TVs also feature built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant.

The One gets HDMI 2.1

Philips also unveiled an upgraded version of "The One" (PUS8807) that is targeted non-technical buyers. The company sees it as the sweet-spot in the market if a buyer wants modern technology at an affordable price for both video entertainment and gaming. The upgraded version of Philips "The One" features HDMI 2.1 ports with 4K120 support and features like VRR, a 100/120Hz LCD panel, the P5 video processor, and DTS Play-Fi wireless audio technology. It will also for the first time in a Philips TV come in 86 inches. In addition, Philips announced new mid-range LCD TV models (PUS8507, PUS8007, and PUS7607) as well as entry-level HD models in the 5-series. Additional models are expected to be added to the line-up in the second half of the year. More detailed specifications and our TV compare tool can be found in the TV Database.
