Polk's new soundbar is part of a wave of compact soundbars that promise big sound with Dolby Atmos compatibility. Sonos recently launched its second-generation Beam soundbar while LG added the Eclair soundbar to its line-up. Polk's soundbar measures just 14.5 inches or roughly 37 centimenters in length. The Sonos Beam for comparison measures 26 inches or 65 centimeters. Unlike Sonos Beam, however, Polk's mini soundbar comes with an external subwoofer included in the package.It is a 3.1-channel system that can be extended to 5.1 surround by adding the Polk SR2 wireless surround speakers. The company says that it supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and in-house '3D Audio' upscaling technology, but you should probably not set your expectations high for immersive sound. - "With MagniFi Mini AX we set out to create the world’s best-sounding, ultra-compact Dolby Atmos soundbar, said Frank Sterns, President of Polk Audio. The soundbar can connect to any TV via HDMI ARC/eARC, optical or AUX, and it is certified Roku TV Ready. This means that it can be controlled with any modern TV's remote (over HDMI CEC) and that there are further on-screen integrations with Roku TVs. In addition, it supports Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, and Spotify Connect for music. Polk's MagniFi Mini AX is available now in North America, Europe, and other regions for 499 USD / 479 Euro. The optional rear speakers are available for 199 USD / 179 Euro.
