Devialet launches its first soundbar, the 5.1.2ch Dione with Dolby Atmos
French speaker company Devialet has unveiled its first soundbar called Dione. It features 17 drivers that produce 5.1.2-channel sound with Dolby Atmos.Devialet's first soundbar
The new soundbar comes with a high price tag; $2400 in the US, €2200 in Europe, and £2000 in the UK. This is considerably more than the Sonos Arc ($900) but on par with the Sennheiser Ambeo ($2500). The 5.1.2-channel soundbar features 17 high-end drivers for five ground channels, a subwoofer channel and two up-firing channels. It has been designed as an all-in-one solution for TV sound and music. It can hang on the wall or lay flat on a surface. - "External subwoofer? No need to add what’s already built in. Devialet Dione soundbar boasts eight internal subwoofers, the highest on the market, making it a true all-in-one sound system," the company's website reads. "Devialet Dione 8x high-excursion subwoofers are custom-designed to deliver powerful and deep low-frequency effects with improved sound wave directivity to greatly enhance bass restitution and immersion."The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos and other Dolby audio formats but not DTS:X. It can be connected to a TV via HDMI eARC or optical, and can be controlled using a TV remote control (over HDMI CEC). In addition, it supports WiFi-based systems such as AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect as well as Bluetooth for music playback. The Devialet Dione is available now in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg, and pre-orders in other countries start this week.
