Sennheiser launches wireless TV earbuds

01 Jun 2022 | Rasmus Larsen |

The new earbuds, Sennheiser TV Clear, connects wirelessly to TVs via Bluetooth or a small box. They let you amplify voices in movies and TV shows.

Users can choose from five speech clarity levels, providing up to 20 dB of amplification in high-frequency tones. The volume can also be set independently from the TV's speakers. An additional 'Ambient Awareness' function lets the user hear ambient sounds, too.

Sennheiser's TV Clear can be connected to modern TVs wirelessly over Bluetooth and older TV via the supplied box that connects to a TV's optical or analog outputs. The box transmits the signal wirelessly to the earbuds.

The battery provides up to 15 hours of listening time on a single charge when used with the transmitter while the charging case provides an additional 22 hours.

Alternative to AirPods

Sennheiser's solution can be seen as an alternative to Apple AirPods and other fully wireless earphones. Up to two pairs of AirPods can be connected wirelessly to the Apple TV 4K media player. Sennheiser's solution offers clear voices features but on lacks the option to connect more than one pair to TVs and does not support spatial audio for movies and series with Dolby Atmos. These features are expected to launch later this year. Sennheiser's TV Clear will be available later this month for 400 Euro, which is equivalent to a pair of AirPods Gen 3 plus the Apple TV 4K box.
