LG Display is planning to unveil a 20" OLED panel by the end of the year

LG Display will expand its OLED line-up to include mid-sized panels with a 20-inch OLED panel planned to be unveiled later in 2022, the company has confirmed.

LG Display is mass-producing small OLED panels for watches and smartphones and large OLED panels for TVs in sizes ranging from 42 to soon 97 inches. For the consumer market there is nothing in between but that will change in the near future.

- "LG Display is planning to unveil a 20-inch OLED panel by the end of the year for application in personal devices," reported The Elec. "LG Display vice president Kang Won-seok said during a forum hosted by the Korea Display Industry Association (that) demand for personal displays has risen during the pandemic and the new panel size is aimed at meeting this demand."

The company added that it will unveil a 77-inch transparent OLED display next year.

LG Display has not commented on its plans for mass production so it is unclear if the 20-inch panel will be ready for monitors and laptops in 2023. It did not share details on resolution or other specifications either. The company is reportedly also developing OLED panels for tablets including Apple's iPad that is rumored to finally make the switch to OLED in 2024. In 2021, LG Display said that it is planning to bring OLED technology "down to the 20-30-inch range, enhancing not only TV, but also gaming, mobility, and personal display options". Samsung Display has started mass production of a 34-inch curved QD-OLED panel, found in gaming monitors such as the Dell Alienware AW3423DW. - Source: The Elec
